The website generally visited by about 9,500 people every day. On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, lakhs of curious people from about 200 countries of the world visited the website to know about life & works of Mahatma Gandhi. About 56,702 people on October 1 and 73,256 people on October 2 visits the website. During Gandhi Jayanti, from 27th September to 3rd October, the website got 49,78, 237 hits across the globe which is a record for itself. This comprehensive website is maintained jointly by Gandhian organizations, Bombay Sarvodaya Mandal, Mumbai and Gandhi Research Foundation, Jalgaon.

NGO hosts quiz competition on Gandhiji for students


Nandini Voice for The Deprived, a Chennai-based NGO, is organizing a quiz competition for students in Tamil Nadu on ‘Life and Mission of Mahatma Gandhi’ for the forthcoming Gandhi Jayanthi on October 2, 2011.

The objective of the quiz competition is to encourage the school children in the formative age group to understand the life and mission of Mahatma Gandhi, which was one of compassion, truth and non violence.

The quiz competition will take place in the month of September and students studying in 10th, 11th and 12th Standards all over Tamil Nadu are eligible to participate.

Principals and headmasters of the schools in Tamil Nadu are invited to forward the names of the students who will be interested in taking part in the quiz. The competition will take place within the premises of each of the individual schools.

Three prizes will be awarded for the best performing students in each school. The last date for registration August 20, 2011.For more information, call 24916037.

500 NSS STUDENTS WILL TAKE THE PLEDGE TO WORK FOR NON-VIOLENCE
at Shahir Amar Shaikh Hall, Vidyapeeth Vidyarthi Bhavan, Churchgate (W)

Bombay Sarvodaya Mandal and N.S.S. Unit of University of Mumbai have jointly organized the mega event at Shahir Amar Shaikh Sabhagriha, Vidyapeeth Vidyarthi Bhavan, ‘B’ Road, Churchgate (W), Mumbai 400 020 2nd October to commemorate an International Non-Violence Day.

About 500 N.S.S. students from 70 colleges of University of Mumbai will participate in this event. The programme will include prayer, bhajans, peace songs and speeches by the Chief Guest Shri. M. N. Singh, Ex. Commissioner of Police and NSS Officials. Students will take the pledge to work for peace & non-violence which will administrate by the Chief guest at the end of the programme.
